Howard Gamber came to Mission of Grace from Bethany, Missouri. He was introduced to Miss Lynn and Miss Kim in February 2014 while serving at Mission of Grace with Hope Missions Outreach. During that trip his team leader, Ms. Sharon, asked Miss Lynn and Miss Kim what they needed. They replied “We need men.” Men to do the things men do; build things, fix things, and be an example to the Haitian men of how to be strong leaders for their families. For the remainder of 2014 Howard asked the Lord to bring him to Mission of Grace in whatever time and capacity was in His will.
In February of 2015 Howard returned to Haiti with HMO where the same question was asked and the same response was given, “We need men!” During a team meeting Howard spoke up and said he would come and serve Mission of Grace long term. His team prayed over him for God’s will to be done, and for favor to be shown him regarding some legal issues that could inhibit his ability to serve long term. In July the court ruled in his favor, and Howard arrived at Mission of Grace on September 17, 2015 to begin his long term assignment. Since that time he has been serving as the lead maintenance man, loving on kids in the orphanage and the community, and being an answer to a prayer that Miss Lynn and Miss Kim have been praying for a long time. He is also looking forward to fulfilling a desire that has been birthed in his heart since being here, and that is to start a sports program to teach the kids in the orphanage and the community skills in soccer, baseball, and softball. |
