Isaac and Darla met in Redding, California in September 2011 and were married in December 2012. In August 2014, Isaac graduated with his Master’s in Divinity. During this time Darla was working as an RN, and after Isaac’s graduation they began praying about heading to the mission field. They partnered with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in January, 2015 where they received discipleship training and the opportunity to lead a three month outreach to Togo Africa.
During their season with YWAM they spent a lot of time praying about serving in long term missions. They were invited by some friends to join them in starting a YWAM base in Port-au-Prince and after much prayer and confirmation, they heard God telling them to go to Haiti, but not all of the timing and details seemed to be falling in to place. Shortly after asking God for greater clarity, Miss Kim O’Dwyer came to their base to speak about Mission of Grace and all of the amazing things that God has been doing. As she was talking, both of their hearts were feeling the same thing and God confirmed that they were to come and serve with Mission of Grace!
They arrived in early November 2015 and expect to be serving here for at least a year. Darla has been serving in the medical clinic and providing in home care in our elderly home and orphanage. Isaac spends his mornings building relationships with the people in the community, preaching the gospel and making disciples. Most afternoons you will find them both holding babies or playing with kids in the orphanage. They both say it is one of the most incredible experiences of their lives and they look forward to continuing to partner with Mission of Grace to advance the Kingdom of God in Haiti.
